The Order of the Rattle has got by its "spiritual mentor" the Lieutenant-Colonel of Infantry Paratrooper António Manuel Camacho Soares, as he was the one with the idea of this congregation. Such idea has emerged on August 2000, in the vespers of the transition to the situation of Reserve of the following elements:

Lieutenant-Colonel of Infantry Paratrooper Mário José Anacleto dos Santos

The Order of the Rattle, born on August 24^th, 2000, is a non-profitable association, whose purpose is to gather military paratroopers in socializing who have already moved to the situation of Reserve or Retirement with those still in the Active military duty.

The Rattle, symbol of the Order of the Rattle, is a metallic object which is usually suspended from the "animals" neck, with the purpose of reveal their presence whenever they move themselves.

The Order of the Rattle will confer a Rattle to each Member of the Order who has moved to the situation of the Reserve (or Retirement, for those situations where has occurred a direct transition from the Active military duty to a situation of Retirement), in a periodical meeting (ordinary) or extraordinary (called for that purpose).

Such meetings will occur during the periodic or extraordinary dinners, that might be called. The periodical meetings will have a semi-annual periodicity, occurring during the months of April and October. The extraordinary meetings will occur whenever that is required, namely when any of their Members moves to the situation of Reserve or Retirement, earning the right to the ostentation of the Rattle, or when there is a submission proposal to the Order for the admission of new Members.

Being the Rattle an object with the purpose of revealing, through its sound, any movement of those wearing it, the goal of its attribution to those Members of the Order who have already earned the right of its ostentation, is to allow to those Members of the Order still in the Active military duty, to have the perception about the localization of those Members of the Order who have already moved to the situation of the Reserve or Retirement.
